I'm debating on what to do with my Trailhawk for rims and tires. I'm planning on doing the Daystar lift, but am debating between factory or aftermarket rims. With my JK I had a set of ProComp (Rock Crawler 98 rims in 17x7 like this: They come in a 5x114.3 bolt pattern. My thoughts were to run a 1.25" adapter/spacer from 5x110 to 5x114.3 and use those rims. Then for tires I was thinking I really loved the Mickey Thompson - so they have some decent STX tires in the 235/70/16 size that I believe come out to 29" height. If it fits I think it would look awesome. This is what the similar setup looked like on my JK Any thoughts on if the size and combo might work? Am I missing anything? Thanks!
Those wheels are the ones I have been screaming about! When will these wheel manufacturers wake the "F" up and make them for Renegade? The only wheels available look like the should be on a damn Honda Civic with a coffee can muffler back in 1997. SHIT MAN!
I messaged pro-comp a couple months ago on Facebook. They said thanks for the input. I told them any of their traditional Off Road wheels made for Renegade would sell like hot cakes! No further word....
I heard back from pro-comp today. Possibly this summer they will have a 17x8.5 wheel for Renegade! Can't wait!
Would be interesting. Would open up possibilities for tire choices in 17" tires, but could you really put wider meats in there without some body modification?
In the end, didn't it just involve him needing to get 1.25" spacers to clear the caliper? Because that solved the issue with the bolt heads being too short on a 1" spacer, and the need for the indentations in the back of the Jeep rim. Or am I missing something more? (Which is quite possible lol)
Something to consider. Tire weight? Just want to remind all, Don't forget to consider the new tire weight. With the small HP motors available in the Renegade and trying to maintain MPGs. Weight is crucial. TH come standard with a Goodyear @ 28 lbs or Falken at 30 lbs. However; 1.4L/6MT the stock 16" Continental all season tire weigh in at only 20 lbs. A big difference from All Season tire to an All Terrain tire. 20 lbs --> 30lbs) Trying to obtain that elusive 30 MPG becomes even harder to achieve with a 10 lbs increase for and All Terrain tire, and zaps the 1.4L /160 HP even more. Going from an All Season tire to an All Terrain tire weight is significant.
