So I want to add a trailer hitch to the Renegade. Not having a truck anymore and still needing something like that makes me need to use my 8' trailer for things like going to get lumber and other stuff. I know some Renegades have them from factory but mine does not. What brand would bolt right up without doing any kind of drilling or major modification? I'm also wondering about the trailer lights. Is there a way to get a wire to the trailer plug? I know there's a fuse box in the back but not sure if I can hook anything up to have a hook in when I need to use the trailer. Not sure about the laws in PA about your trailer lights working. I think as long as you can seethe vehicle lights, the trailer lights don't need to work but I haven't found anything for sure.

So, what would be the best hitch to put on and what can I do for trailer light wiring?

    Hi everyone,

I ordered a used Mopar hitch from a salvage yard ($150) and bought aftermarket bumper cover and bezel ($278) instead of trying to do the cutting template dealio. All together $450 out of pocket for everything to include the push-pin clips for the wheel well trim to be reinstalled. After watching a few videos on how to remove the rear bumper cover which was actually very easy, the installation of the Mopar hitch was done in 10 minutes - no reaming of holes and no dropping the exhaust was required - it just slid into the frame and you install 6 bolts and you're done. Putting everything else back on took about 1.5 hours. I highly recommend buying the aftermarket bumper cover for the hitch - as you can see it looks like factory and saved a lot of time and hassle.

The only issue is the wiring -See pics. I thought it would be plug and play since all Renegades come with the 7-pin cannon plug for towing on the factory harness as pictured. The other side of the harness that came with the hitch is also Mopar is a 4-pin cannon plug. I searched Ebay & Google and can't find anything such as an inline 7 to 4 adapter. I' going to query the dealer tomorrow but you have any ideas on how to make the factory harness connect to the hitch harness please share. Thanks for your time!

I'm installing a U-Haul hitch on my TH. The bolts and fixed nuts are already there on the TH so that part is easy. I bought a wiring 'harness' that plugs into the existing tail/break lights. Most difficult part, which I haven't done, is running a hot lead from the rear to the battery. I don't know where the 'existing factory hitch wiring plug' is located and it is too late to worry about it.
