So I already had the Daystar lift but switched to ATP lift today... this is 2 years ago vs today... he ATP lift is definitely worth considering... felt a huge difference swapping out the previous lift for this one

Let us know how it rides. I am already getting this lift once i have funds to sacrifice for it and once i get my renee back from the stealership.

Already it rides much better than the Daystar... feels more robust and not as wobbly

What size tires are you running? They say you can run up to 30 in tires.

I'm a couple days late but I installed my new 225/70R16 BFG KO2'S on 16" Chevy HHR wheels with Bora 1.25" wheel spacers.

I really like the tan. It's grown on me. At first I was a little skeptical of the color but I love it.

Ya I did. Just followed wayalife's how to. I need trim some more due to rubbing I'm getting at full turn when moving.

    "Tonto Got a Headdress"

    or...

I tied my Old Town Pack canoe down on the Thule load bars - Plan 'B'

Having just worked out what I thought would be an adequate tie down system on this rig, it was time for a trial run to the river - it rode up there like it was glued on.

These two modes of transportation seem like they were made for one another.

Finding a suitable place to tie the bow off was a real challenge though. As you know by now, the whole front end on this rig is plastic, unless you have the Trailhawk. I ended up installing a strap loop to the top of the firewall via an existing hole after removing the plastic push fastener. A set of 53" long Thule Aeroblade load bars in black provided necessary rooftop support (e-bay treasure).

I just need to remember to take a stool along so I can reach to tie it off... or park next to a curb.

Side-note: The hood will open and close completely & freely with this arrangement - I can't say the same for the rear hatch though - thank goodness for folding rear seats.

The last two photos in this series show the aborted Plan 'A' bow tie down points. I couldn't handle the rope across my line of sight.

I had some leftover aluminum flat stock from a 1982 fishing boat modification - folded it over to protect the webbing from the sharp edge of the sheet metal and fastened it with a 1/4" hex head cap screw and nylon locknut.

When not in use, the strap will just tuck into the engine compartment and hang over the back of the engine. 20170412_100617 (1280x960).jpg

I dislike a shifting load, so I tie down multiple directions. Polypropylene rope seems to work quite well for me - pliable, and no damage to the finish of the vehicle. Just toss that sucker over the top and let it land where it may. 20170412_124707 (1280x960).jpg 20170412_124756 (1280x960).jpg

As luck would have it, I ended up with nearly a straight pull on the loop strap - absolute minimum stress on the hood, which by the way, seemingly has the tensile strength of aluminum foil. 20170412_124809 (960x1280).jpg

Additionally, to prevent side shift caused by gusting winds, I've placed two rope loops attached at either end of the center twart that extend over the ends of the front load bar. This also relieves some of the force applied to the single bow tie down. 20170412_124816 (1280x960).jpg

Plan 'B' allows for good visibility, unlike Plan 'A' that was aborted because one of the tie down ropes cut directly across my line of sight down the roadway. Yes, this is much better. 20170412_125515 (1280x960).jpg

Plan 'A' - Aborted... Since these straps are already mounted and don't harm anything, I plan to leave them in place as a back-up. 20170410_100044 (960x1280).jpg

I switched from daystar over to ATP but this is 2 years ago stock brand new vs the 2" ATP lift and 255/55R18s... definitely noticeable height increase over daystars lift and also rides better now
