I replaced my windshield wipers a few months ago and the driver side wiper will start to chatter after 10-15 minutes of use. The first 10-15 minutes the wiper is perfectly fine, like clockwork around 10-15 minutes it will start to chatter. It will chatter for the rest of the day even if the Renegade sits between trips. Next rain storm it is fine again for the first 10-15 minutes. Anyone ever have a situation like this? I know it is the driver side after fooling around with the wipers. I've tried cleaning the wipers, windshield, etc. It is aggravating for sure. Any thoughts? The new wipers are OEM replacements, the first set was fine and lasted 2 years until a slight tear.

You probably already did this, but make sure the windshield and wipers are clean, if that doesn't do it, it sounds like a very slightly bent wiper arm... Once it starts chattering, look at the flat part of the arm where the blade mounts, it should be parellel to the glass, if it's not try to bend it back to parellel

Thanks for the reply. I've checked the arms and they appear to be fine. I"ve cleaned the windshield numerous times but nothing seems to help. I have been using the orange rain-x washer fluid and heard that might be part of the problem, I am going to try another brand to see if there is a difference. The weird part is the wipers are perfectly fine for 10 minutes or so, then the chatter begins. I will probably wind up trying a new set of wiper blades eventually.

Interesting, I can see where the Rain-X might be the problem, since it's whole purpose is tohelp get water off the windshield, perhaps it's actually making it so the wipers don't have any water getting between the wiper and the glass after a few minutes, and starving the blades of lubrication. Do you notice a difference in performance of the wipers once they start chattering. like streaking or skipping in hte wipe pattern?

There is skipping in the wipe pattern once it starts but there is no streaking at all. I just bought a different brand of cleaner and will try that. The rain-x is just about gone and I expect to try the new stuff shortly. I will not fill the reservoir in case the new stuff isn't very good. If it solves the problem I will fill it up. If no change I will try new wipers. Thanks for yor rply.
