I am interested in getting limb risers for my Renegade. But, I am hesitant because I have not figured out where they are installed on top of the Jeep. I cannot figure out if they are installed in the door, on the top side rails, etc... Can someone please help me? If you have a Renegade with limb risers can you post some pictures as well of the hood install and where you have attached them up above. Are there any that don't need the light bar bracket (Valkyrie requires it). Are there any that can be used with the front bolt of the OEM side rails? I appreciate the help. My windshield got a big crack and I have a nice new scratch right on the hood from a tree limb....silly me. Cheers,
You could look at cheaper light bar brackets than the Valkyrie ones and just use those for the risers instead of lights if you have no interest in putting a roof light up. The Valkyries are good if you want to run both a light bar and risers though, they have holes for both. You could also drill into your basket and use the shackles with a hook on one side to hold it at the top. From the hood there is a bolt just behind the headlights on either side and you could fab up a bracket of some sort to connect to down there, just need it to form alongside the inner part of the quarter panel and come up between that and the hood. Probably coat it or wrap it in something to prevent it from scratching.
I got a set of ATP risers (cheaper than Valkyrie) with the light brackets. It's a really easy install. I'm just waiting for the dealership to put on my new MySky before I put them on. I'm gonna wait because the light bracket goes under the roof rail and they have to take those off to replace the sun roof. The risers are meant to attach to the light bracket. There's really no other way unless you fabricate something. That red painted bolt behind the head light is what you loosen to attach the bracket. The fender has to be pulled out ever so slightly so the hood doesn't scrape the bracket then retighten the bolt. When I do it I'll post pics of the process. I also got a light bar from Nilight.com. Taking my Jeep in this Tuesday so hopefully I can start the install the following week.
Either way both brands recommend using the light bar bracket. Not doing so would void any warranty issues that could or may arise.
Thank you. Those responses are very helpful. I think I am going to go with the Valkyrie Limb Riser kit and get the Light Bracket, but just not install the light. I have looked online, and it seems like it should still work. Cheers
