Wave to everyone! Thinking about small camp trailer (not pop-up) to pull being TH. Anyone have one and how does renny handle the load?
That's the stayed weight limit but does anyone have a trailer, how does pulling it affect renny please.
Me and 900lb weight and 225 ish pound bike on the younger there 3hrs ending in PA hills . No problem getting 20 mpg
The UVW on all of those exceed the Renny's rating. I've seen some other, lighter weight, options another forum but am hesitant to link that here. I'll find some direct links tomorrow and post them up. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Yeah, but a lot of people exceed the towing capacity of Wranglers, too, when pulling trailers. I'd be interested to see, if the Renegade has a greater listed towing capacity in Europe, than the States, like the Wranglers do.
Weight is not the problem it's the wheel base. Your towing something to long and you can lose control or worst. I had an xterra with a 5,000 tow while we went to the camping show saw a nice 19 ft scamp only 3,000 they were not allowed to sell it to me. The salesman at the Vegas show said by law if they sold me that camper knowing the length was not cool they are responsible for all damages . Camper world is the biggest whore out there so if they say no it's no
Yeah with the renny being short wheel base not much out there at 2000# - looking at Scamp or Casita as possibilities but haven't seen any in real life just online. Thanks everyone for the replies!
The offroad onesnim thinking of arent big. And are pretty short and stout. Saw on white rim trail in moab.
I found what I read earlier and it wasn't on a forum. Hopefully this link will be okay. http://www.fourwheeler.com/product-reviews/1601-10-off-road-camping-trailers-perfect-for-your-jeep/ Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Have you thought about a tear drop around 1,000 and only 12 ft long. Getting an off road camper in USA is ruff. There's thousands of them down under I have bookmarked some. Jeep sells a camper tent .they are pricey anyone know when I can get info on a 2017. Went to share and chapman no info. I been holding out, after my relapse I lost my order from Sahara while in the hospital after waiting 17 weeks on my order. So I don't really want to deal with them. A member told me about chapman and they install lifts. I'm just holding out because at the auto show in town 6 months ago jeep told me USA might get the diesel because of mpg requirements. And I drove a trail hawk.i don't know if the motor was tight because of being new. But I could not pass a truck on 215 with out a good run. I don't see many renegades in Vegas but lots on lots with a paded price. I wanted a tow package from the factory. And dealer told me to put a hitch on it and it's the same. I asked about the trans, steering, engine cooler that most companies put on with a tow package so they made me wait 17 weeks. I hate Sarah jeep, any other good dealerships by the Vegas area
Does anyone know what the connector is on the factory tow package wiring harness? Anyone have it and can provide a picture? I'm hoping it's a seven pin. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Isn't it a 4 pin. What are you looking for. A for pin I believe is just for lights your running a class 1/2 hitch. The 7 pin is ment for trailer brake connection
Yeah, sounds like it's a 4 pin. I've not bought my Renegade yet but will be getting a Trailhawk model. Looking at a small teardrop camper, probably a T@G Max by Little Guy trailers (http://www.golittleguy.com/model?id=50&model=TaG-Max). It's just over 1000lbs weight so shouldn't be a problem. I'll probably get it sooner and just tow it with my JK or my wife's Patriot. They also make a MyPod Max which is under 700 pounds. It's a bit small for me, tho, as I'm 6'4" and that's the length of the bed inside. It also doesn't have a galley which is probably no big deal, anyway. The 7 pin is required to send 12v to the trailer so that the on-board battery can be charged. Handy if you're going to be in the middle of nowhere without hookups.
