Hi all, first post here, new member, been doing some reading. I know the differences between the two trims, I'm more interested in hearing people's opinion on the choice before me...

As I'm sure most of you know, there are some crazy sales going on right now. My current lease ends next month, and I've decided to jump on these crazy Jeep sales while they last. I have done a lot of research, this will be my first Jeep, though I've had some experience in friends' and family members' Jeeps over the years. I've narrowed my choice down to two different Renegade models, both 2017:

    1) Latitude 4x4, power seats package; $17k (MSRP $27k)
    2) Trailhawk, MySky power sunroof panels, Beats audio, 6.5 Nav package, safety package; $22k (MSRP $33k)

They are both about $10k off MSRP, and both good deals. My hesitation is that the only add-on the Trailhawk offers that I'm really interested in is the MySky; if I get the Latitude I could add in an aftermarket receiver and upgraded speakers for a lot less than Jeep charges...so I'm wondering if the extra $5k is worth it for essentially a sunroof...and the other Trailhawk trim options of course. TBH I think I'd be fine with non-TH 4x4, I live in SoCal so no heavy winters, the occasional ski, surfing, or camping trip is all I need to worry about.

I plan on purchasing and getting out of the lease cycle, and if the car serves me well, plan to keep it for the next 5-10 years.

    Thoughts?

If I were just interested in the My Sky and nothing else in the options I would not get the TH. My Latitude serves me fine, a tank in the snow and good on the beach. It is not worth the 5k to me just to get a car with holes in the roof. That being said, there is a lot more available in the deal however, the TH has options that are fairly extensive not to mention the differences in the TH vs the Latitude platforms (low gear, skid plates, slightly lifted). The TH would probably hold it's value better just for the fact it is a TH with umerous options. For those reasons, if it were me, I would get the TH.

Hey, thanks for the feedback. I had also considered that as a "pro" for the TH, resale value...people like the TH badge on a Jeep (myself included). Though if I keep it for 8-10 years the difference in resale may be negligible by that point...I know I don't need that level of off-roading capability, but it couldn't hurt to have it. Essentially, I don't care much about the 6.5 Nav (plan to upgrade to a CarPlay unit either way), Beats speakers (which I've read aren't great), or safety package (I've somehow managed to survive without blind spot monitoring for the past 20 years). AND I actually would enjoy the Latitude's Power seats and auto-AC package for my own personal needs more...but being in Southern CA and with the weather out here the MySky would be very nice to have...and this TH is the lowest-priced 4x4 with the MySky that I've found...therein lies the dilemma, considering all factors and which makes the most sense...

I'm leaning towards the Latitude for the aforementioned reasons - it has enough to appease me (power seats, auto AC, 4x4) - only thing I'd miss would be the sunroof, which I can live without. For the $5k I'd be saving, I think it's the more prudent choice, as for about $1k I can put in an aftermarket CarPlay receiver and new speakers.

I'm fortunate that I can afford either, but who doesn't like saving money when possible?

In case anyone cares - I just got the Latitude 4x4 today! In anvil, stoked, love it. After a lot of back and forth, I decided the $5k premium wasn't worth it for my personal needs...planning on doing some after market upgrades, and except for the MySky, will have everything I want and save several thousand bucks. I'm a happy camper.

Now it's time for accessory shopping! Plans include: aftermarket Apple CarPlay receiver, lift kit, blacked out wheels...maybe down the line I'll swap out the speakers, but sticking with stock for now. If anyone has any suggestions about any of this, would love to hear :). Will also post in the aftermarket thread about it...Cheers!

Any way you slice it, you got a great deal on the Renegade. I hope you enjoy it as so many others enjoy theirs.
If you have the standard audio system you might want to swap out just the front dashboard speakers. It's a low-cost/high-benefit change. You'll find many positive comments on that change on this and other Renegade forums.

Thanks for the tip, much appreciated! Definitely on my list of upgrades...already ordered the new head unit, just awaiting delivery. The 2 days I've had the car so far, I love it.
