I have had one update on my 16 trailhawk as far as the transmission goes. When driving, if I get on it right away it goes. If I do that same thing then hesitate or slow down and try to get going fast again, it creeps. The 180hp is more than sufficient for the size vehicle. This is mostly bc the transmission is in 6th while doing 40 or so if performing this function. Long story/short is has any been able to fix this issue? Please give details. If I can fix that, it will keep me from selling it and taking a huge loss. Thanks in advance.

Are you sure the dealer did all the updates for you. I just had mine in, & it needed 5 updates, one for the transmission, that really seemed to adjust it, so it manages more like an older style transmission. The issue is, is all computer vs hydraulic, so the computer shifts for fuel efficiency. If your not sure you got all the updates, take it to another Jeep dealer, or one you trust.

I will be taking it to get updated. The transmission is just a bear. It's a shame I have to go waste my time in a dealership while getting updated. It states a lot about reliability.

Unfortunately the renegade is the start of revised car thinking in the US, we are loosely their beta testers. I think it's going to take a bit to iron the 9 sp out completely, but I feel it's a lot better after my last updates then it was before. Keep in mind, it's a computer, & that makes it different then how we were used to driving. I came from 2 Wranglers(2001, 2005) & a Liberty(2011) & the Liberty's eco setting drove me nuts for about 6 months before I finally got it.

I have a 2016 Trailhawk with 13k. Recently, I have been doing quite a bit of highway driving and as a result I have been using cruise control a lot.

I'm keeping track of my observations but here is the broad stroke take-away:

Shifting is directly related to the onboard computer's efforts to increase fuel mileage (pretty obvious, probably). This is evidenced by how the computer allows the vehicle to fall upwards of 5 MPH below the setting before shifting to a lower gear and accelerating.

For example, setting cruise control anywhere between 68 and 74 MPH results in the vehicle CONSTANTLY shifting (caveat: Please note that California highways have hills and are almost never flat). When CC is set within this range, my TH can't seem to decide which gear to settle into. If I set my MPH below or above this range, shifting feels less spastic. As one would presume, setting CC speed higher results in severely degraded MPG - just watch the instrument cluster - it's immediately apparent.

Overall, I never notice the vehicle changing gears as long as I always drive/accelerate with a delicate foot and stay within posted speed limits (suspiciously convenient?).

But there is no arguing that a 9 speed TH will never place first, second or even third off the line. It's a car for peeps with a 'Dude!' Or 'Dudette' driving mentality.

    My three cents...

I had a similar problem you have to take it back to Jeep and they need to download several computer programs I've noticed three other renegades but not Trailhawk so that's transmissions have totally crapped out! IMG_0945.JPG

Wow, the more I read about the fiddly 9-speed, the happier I am I got the 6spd manual. The ZF tranny seems to have tons of problems no matter what vehicle it is in. Good luck guys

Stanley, your jeep is rad! You put Willy's decal on the side, I wonder what the die hard wranglers feel about that :). Hope you don't get harassed from them.

x2. I test drove the 9 speed, it is not stable and not up to par to my driving style. So I bought the 6 speed turbo.
