Just got a killer deal on a new 2017 Latitude 4x4, love everything about it....except the 5.0 head unit it came with lol. My first priority in modding the Jeep is installing an aftermarket unit with CarPlay. This post is for 3 questions:

    1) Any suggestions on favorite head units? Pros/cons/user experiences etc? There's quite a few to choose from. I'm aware of needing the Maestro iDatalink connector to keep Jeep/steering wheel functions...

    2) Assuming proper installation with proper components, can I expect everything stock to work except for the USB, mic, and stock satellite radio? That's what I've been reading....accurate?

    3) Re: warranty - my understanding is this would void only those components directly related to the radio/stereo - and would NOT affect anything mechanical or engine-related. I can live with this. Am I correct in my interpretation?

    Thanks!

go With Kenwood Excelon, with maestro rr you will retain all your factory unctions, steering controls, backup camera, and gain a few other tidbits. you can also snap the plastic tabs off the factory usb connector and it will be a normal mini usb plug, then with an adaptor, you can plug it right in the usb ort on the aftermarket deck.

Thanks! I actually just ordered a similar unit, the Kenwood ddx9704s, though I don’t think it’s Excelon. They were having a good sale on Amazon, cheaper than Crutchfield, seems to be well reviewed...hope it works out, I’m installing it on Friday!

I didn’t know that about the factory USB under the AC...thought it was dead after installing aftermarket deck.
