Hello everyone, long time viewer first time poster... Been obsessing over the renegade since I saw it debut on the Superbowl ad in 2015. Been working my but off to get to the point of buying one. Almost had one on Friday. The jeep dealer in Berkeley, CA had a sport 4x4 manual brand new listed for 16k. So I applied for financing went through process ahead of time online, after some documents forwarded I got approved and was setting up arrangements to go check it out. Well turns out one of them was sold and the other was not their as well not sure if it was sold or sent to a different dealer... So here I am just needed to connect with the community, to help alleviate my woes. He told me that the 4x4 manual was off the table, and the only automatic I am interested in is the trailhawk but that's out of my budget. It sucks because that was the only dealer in northern cali that had a 4x4 mt... Well according to jeep.com. anyways I'm going to keep on keeping on and hopefully will be able to finally get my hands on one. Cheers![emoji106] [emoji106] [emoji106] [emoji106][emoji106] Sent from my SHIELD Tablet using ToasterJeep mobile app
I'd suggest asking the dealer to search a little more, or try a different dealer. I knew what I wanted, and my dealer found it 2 states away and had it delivered, and still cut me a deal. Sent from my SM-G935V using ToasterJeep mobile app
Yah I went to a more local dealer to ask exactly how things worked and so he is going to look for me as well, not sure if they can custom order me one. They said that I'd have to wait a month till the new batch of 2017's roll in. The guy who helped me asked everyone around him if they have seen a 4x4 manual and everyone regarded it as if it was a unicorn... So just have to play the waiting game... Prob going to check out another dealer to see if they have a different result. Sent from my SHIELD Tablet using ToasterJeep mobile app
Nerdsmith, DO NOT get an automatic if I were you. Just be patient, and you'll find one. I have driven automatic company cars and not a good trans shifting. Before I decided to own one, I tested another auto trans, the Trailhawk with bells and whistles... same trans issue that did not impress me. It seems can not figure out the right gear placement.. I don't know if it even uses the 9th gear... and so now I own a manual 4x4 6 speed. You will have fun and have all the control on the gears. Plus, in the market, there are no SUV with 4x4 6 speed manual turbo 1.4 engine available in the US other than this Jeep Renegade. And so, with that alone, you (I) have a rare jeep.
Yah I have been reading about that since the renegade launched. But I had a dealer find me one after going to a few others that didn't seem they wanted to help me. Just waiting for the financials to be processed and should be picking it up tomorrow!!! Sent from my SHIELD Tablet using ToasterJeep mobile app
GOOD news everybody! I was able to lock one down. 2017 Renny Sport 4x4 MANUAL!.. thnx to the good dudes at antioch jeep, they where really helpful and able to find one for me pretty quickly even though every other dealer couldnt or most likely wouldnt. Anyways here she is.. im still in shock its a bit surreal.
Well done mate strange how things just happen.i was looking for a secondhand renegade 4x4 in uk when I stumbled across a new one for less than they wanted for a 2015 but I can't have it till 1st march (new registration in uk) can't wait. Enjoy your new ride. Sent from my iPad using ToasterJeep mobile app
Awesome, what really good price.. Wish i got mine for that low.. but hey its worth what it is worth... What kind of rack do you have in your picture?
I think bec. you are in $$$California$$$ vs. I am from the boonies... so cost of living is day and night difference. My rene' is also the base '17 Sport 1.4T nothing more and so, no resale value I can count on.. For the basket, I assembled it from local hardware but bought the basket from internet no brand name but it looks decent for over 90 bucks. I repainted it flat to match my black fenders.
Cool yah mine is 4x4 with the uconnect 5 and a few extra speakers with the push start ignition (which I have mixed feelings about). And yah being in California doesn't help. I want to black out my roof like the trailhawks and mysky renny's have. Just makes it look a bit sportier Sent from my SHIELD Tablet using ToasterJeep mobile app
Nerdsmith, how is your new toy? Having fun with the stick? Hope you do because it is a rare jeep in that model here in the US. I take pride owning one being 4x4 1.4Turbo 6 speed... I also like the white combo like yours with flat black fenders. Any mods yet? Blacked out roof looks cool as well. Try to change your air filter into K&N and it will rumble deeper when the turbo spools.
No mods yet just enjoying having a new vehicle never had one before so I'm just savoring how everything feels. I just got my rubber mats in but I was hoping it was the kit with the rear cargo mat but it is not. First thing I'm prob gonna do is get a roof rack going up. Hopefully before camping season. Stick is awesome, its weird being used to old clutches then going onto a new one, i stall sometimes going into first. Some days its super sensitive others its not. I do love the fact that is rare model, the finance manager at the dealer was going to all the sales guy saying this guy guy just bought a 4x4 manual, and everyone was like whoa! I bet your going to have fun with that! So far its awesome. Just been busy working so I haven't had the time to take it one some dirt yet. But we'll get there[emoji41] Sent from my SHIELD Tablet using ToasterJeep mobile app
Avoid the 18R wheels or you will realize you've screwed yourself like i did. The 4x4 Automatic traction control system is what makes this vehicle shine, so its not so bad. Sent from my SM-G920V using ToasterJeep mobile app
IMO, 16" rim has more flexible options in terms of aftermarket brand tires. Unless you don't care much about wheels.
Totally get wanting the manual, I did too, but a horribly busy morning/evening commute I decided an auto would be better. I got a gently used 2016 Trailhawk in the gunmetal color loaded. Just got the latest software updates at my dealer & the transmission is acting a lot nicer. It's all computer controlled vs older transmissions that were controlled by hydrologic pressure. They are a lot of fun, now I just have to start pecking away at my wish lists. I think spacers are first, followed by a basket, then I'll see about that 1.5" lift.
