I know there's some rumors of CarPlay coming to the renegade, but since I have the 5" uconnect I don't think it matters. Has anyone considered swapping out the head? I'm not sure if it can be done because of the vehicle settings, but it sure as hell would be nice.
Yes I have already done it. I went with a Kenwood DNX571HD. I bought a harness that works fine for sound, but I am waiting for the idatalink maestro rr to be available so I can have the uconnect settings also.
That's really interesting to me. When you say "uconnect settings", do you mean all of the settings the radio can control will be able to be controlled by your aftermarket head unit? I.E how many doors unlock with keyless, etc?
Correct. You will be able to do all uconnect setting the stock radio controls, as well as pick your stock bluetooth as a source for streaming or calls.
