So, as I'm trying to prioritize which basket to put some $$ into, unlike most I have seen on the site, I'm more of a beach bum, not a trail rider, and my T-hawk will spend most if not all of its off-road life on the sand. I would like to stay away from spacers if at all possible and am thinking about 17" rims with (from what I have researched) a 4-10mm offset so that with some wider tires this will help move my wheels out a bit from under the body without needing spacers. I'm not looking for anything ridiculous, but the thing that would benefit me most is a larger surface area in contact with the sand, the set of BFG KO2s I have on my Xterra were great so I'm thinking that might be the tire direction I am looking. Tire (and lift) height is kinda secondary, especially in that the T-hawk is a lil lifted already, just looking for the most traction I can get. Any thoughts or ideas??

-BTW: I have been totally spoiled by the fact that my last 3 vehicles, (Xterra, Passport,Amigo) have run great in the sand, stock with street pressure!!

sand.jpg I've inadvertently gotten into some deep sand with my Cooper Discoverer AT3s and they have done great, sunk in past the bottom of the wheel with street air pressure, did need the 4wd to get out, but I thought I wasn't going anywhere.

That can be a little bit of a problem with our little Jeeps, as wider tires rub pretty badly on the fender liners and welded seams behind them. To be safe and not have to do any trimming or worry about rubbing issues, I would go with the 17" KO2s in 225 width. They are a tad wider than stock, but not wide enough to cause any issues, even on a stock vehicle.

Add a set of the Smitty built traction boards and a shovel to your beach loadout and go have fun. :)
