Is anyone running an aftermarket muffler or aftermarket exhaust? I'm interested in swapping my muffler to give a bit more growl and for a touch more clearance, but I'm just not finding a lot of examples out there.

I would prefer just to swap the muffler with either a turbo muffler (like the Dynomax Super Turbo) or a glasspack, provided it doesn't sound too ricey or have interior drone.

    Anyone able to help?

Just did a muffler delete. Left the resonator. Sounds good but I want it louder so I will go full straight pipe soon.

No issues with back flow pressure?

It will backfire if you really push the rpms. But since it's a turbo you don't need back pressure.

I smooshed my exhaust pretty good a couple of weeks ago on something. I had a spare Magnaflow 4" tube (#10416) I cut off of my old Audi TT, had the shop put it on. Fits nicely into the OEM muffler space. I left the resonator on. Exhaust note has a much deeper tone, a bit of a growl, and you can really hear the turbo when at WOT. Happily it does not sound like a weed wacker in a oil drum. They even had it exit the bumper cutout. Yeah it hangs a bit low (the shop wanted to make sure the suspension wouldn't hit anything), but I am not off roading the Renegade, though with the quality of the roads in and around Boston, it basically is off roading.

I did try it with the resonator off and just the muffler and it wasn't all that loud. However, there was WAAAAAY to much of a drone in the cabin for my taste.

Would you be able to get some video clips sometime? Interested in hearing how it sounds.

I will try later this morning. I will only have a cell phone so it may not be the best quality. I will get in cabin and outside the Jeep

Okay, lets see if this works. Unfortunately, the cell phone cannot pick up the very low end of the sound range the muffler produces. Put some headphones on and you get a pretty good idea of the sound. If you delete the resonator you will get a decidedly raspier exhaust note, and a much louder drone in the cabin. Also, if the windows are down, you can definitely hear the turbo out the back, but it is just t0o cold to go bombing around with the windows down right now. Maybe get a clip when the weather gets warmer.

First video is in cruise control in 6th at 65mph (~2000 rpm i think). Not too much drone, but it is there.

Video #2 is accelerating in first gear to about 4000rpm, about half throttle. Didn't want to do more as I was driving through freezing rain. Maybe I can get a better one later this afternoon.

Video #3 is in the garage I park in and me just mashing on the pedal a bit.
