I had posted some of this in the DRL installation thread, but thought it would be worth giving it's own thread for people to find if they needed the references. I started off by looking trying the "CANBUS error-free" PY21W bulb that iJDMtoy sells (http://smile.amazon.com/dp/B00XWKBCCA) that they say works with BMW and some other German vehicles. My thoughts were that since the Renegade uses a lot of Euro-spec bulbs and is CANBUS, it might work great without needing anything else. Unfortunately, they triggered the "bulb out" error and started the hyper flash. The only correction was to swap back to the stock bulbs. I've since requested to return them since they didn't have anything else to exchange for that might work. What I found was some LED decoders that are plug and play, they have OE sockets and plugs connected at the ends, so they don't require splicing in an actual resistor. I purchased this set (http://www.ebay.com/itm/2x-1156-BA1...ad-Resistor-Hyper-Flash-Decoder-/131243705579) off of eBay first, because they were one of the few US based sellers. I also ordered the JDM ASTAR compatible bulb (https://amzn.com/B00XV4W686) because it should be a bit brighter in output than the iJDMtoy bulb that I had initially purchased. I will update with the results of this bulb and the use of the LED decoder. If that doesn't work, there is also a similar setup that uses the metal resistor instead. I hesitated to order that because they will get hotter and to properly mount that resistor to a metal surface will require me jacking the car up and removing the tire to get access. I still need to buy a new jack and stands since moving into my new house!
