Sorry, I know this was promised last weekend, but my wife decided that having our second child delivered was more important than working on the Jeeps. I tend to agree, but without further ado, here it is.

So I started out wanting something a little more powerful, and definitely more reliable than the stock fog lights. I did upgrade the bulbs to the OPT7 LED bulbs that many have done, but after condensation and dirt ended up in the housing, I was looking for another alternative.

I looked at the fog light housing and noticed the relative size in comparison to the JK stock 4" lights. I did a little research, including pulling a set off of my brothers JK and decided to look into modifying the aftermarket options to fit our Renegade.

I decided on a set of Rugged Ridge 2" Cubes with the JK mounting brackets.

Then I began to measure and compare.

The JK bracket has 6 mounting holes that are used, but on our Renegade, we will only be utilizing 4. Shown here.

These holes need to be enlarged on the sole hole side.

I used a 1/2" and 7/16" bit and the drill press to accomplish this.

The lower holes are a little more complicated and the process would be made far easier with a mill, but with only a drill press, I drilled on the inside of the existing holes using a step bit until I got to the required diameter of 3/8".

Next the light had to be attached to the mount. This requires the attachment bolt to be offset using 2 additional hex bolts.

This moves the light forward in the factory hole.

The bracket will sit in the factory location after these modifications.

The finished product looks like this.

The wiring was just spliced into the factory wires and the circle valence that is used to fill the JK opening is optional.
