Hi all, do you have snow chains for your renegade ?
I have a 2017 Renegade Limited 4x4, tire size 225/55R18. I believe the owner's manual says do NOT put snow chains as it would damage the jeep.
I felt around behind the tire and it was indeed super tight, the rear was tighter than the front, it's not even one finger's width at the tightest spot.
Here in California, there are 3 levels of chain control : (and I assume Cali has the most stringent laws)
R1 : Chains are required on all vehicles except passenger vehicles and light-duty trucks under 6,000 pounds gross weight and equipped with snow tires on at least two drive wheels. Chains must be carried by vehicles using snow tires.
R2 : Chains or traction devices are required on all vehicles except four wheel/ all wheel drive vehicles with snow-tread tires on all four wheels.
NOTE: (Four wheel/all wheel drive vehicles must carry traction devices in chain control areas.)
R3 : Chains or traction devices are required on all vehicles, no exceptions.
(A highway will often be closed before an R-3 condition is imposed.)

We do have M+S tires, so do you all just carry some sort of chains (just for showing) and hope that the Highway Patrol will never make you put them on ?

Is there anyone out there who had luck in finding some low clearance snow cable that can be used on the jeep ?

    Thank you very much.

Can you use tire cables instead of chains?

Just started investigating this myself since Bruce (my Renegade) wants to go to Big Bear, Baldy, and Mammoth this year. I'm not finding an easy answer for CA!

You need chains or cables in or on your vehicle when entering a chain control zone in California. So you don't have to put them on unless it is r3 but still have to have them in your vehicle or you may get sighted. Up in the mountains in Ca there is normally a check point when they become required.
