I have a DOJ edition latitude 4x4 renegade, to get max lift would I need trailhawk coil springs then a 2 inch lift? And can I run my stock 18s with a spacer? I know it'll be difficult to find an on/off road tire but I like stock modified in my older age. Lol. Any help is appreciated.
Here is your best option. Basically to keep your 18s but have room for meatier tires will require a small lift and possibly spacers. Popular lifts are the 1" G-Force or the 1.5" Daystar. That along with meatier tires will have your trucking riding at or higher than a Trailhawk clearance wise. I just added bigger tires and that alone gave me another 1" lift of ground clearance and now has same clearance as a hawk. But i have the 16"s and they are a bit easier to find tires for.
I think I'm wanting to use trailhawk coils and then the lift kit. That should net me a 3 inch on a latitude? Plus tires and spacers of course
The cost involved with that would more than likely be astronomical. Price the factory Koni strut, x4. Then your lift price. Granted you can find a wrecked renegade TH, and the struts are in good condition, but the $ spent on a wrecked rene, or buy the struts at a dealer or wholesaler... Sounds like $$$$
Sure, you could 'stack' lifts, but you'll want to consider the stretch the CVs will face after that much lift. More than likely why the companies who have designed the lifts (daystar, g-force) maxed out at 1.5" and 1" respectively. Also the center of gravity is much higher, and drivability will be changed.
Good point. But if you put the daystar lift on the Trailhawk, would that be like putting it on lift springs? I know it's a lot of questions I'm used to lowering vehicles. Lifting is all new. Is there a difference in the CVs from trailhawk to latitude? I know drivability would be completely different, but I think some of that could be helped with spacers to widen the stance a little?
I was wondering the same thing. Plus Ive heard daystar kit had poor welds causing a recall but Im sure thats been fixed. Im still skeptical. Ive heard another reason we dont have a ton of options for lift kits is the frame design of the rene. Can anyone whos lifted a trailhawk with the daystar and hauled around town and out of town comment on it?
No issues out of the DayStar kit on my TrailHawk, other than a little creaking that im hoping the shop can fix when I take it back in for retorquing of the bolts. Only about 600 miles on it so far, but the driveability hasn't changed at all. Obviously there is a tad more body roll going into a fast corner, but that's to be expected.
thanks for the info! Im considering it but also the madness auto one once thats official. The .5 of an inch matters to me lol.
