How accurate is the dashboard readout on the 2016 Renegade? Got mine June 30th and the digital readout was 38 on all 4 tires. Some days it would fluctuate a few pounds, possibly due to the sun and shade.

As it got colder the readings dropped to 33 on all but one, which was 31. So I got out the air compressor and bumped them all up to 35. Well, nothing changed on the dashboard. So I took a ride. Only one tire re-registered to 35. Am I missing something?

I just got my trailhawk last week. I've noticed the variation of the tire pressure as well.

The cold will definitely affect the psi. I have had my Renegade for a little over a year and found the psi readout to vary with the weather. Also, one of my tpms sensors reads a little low compared to the others. On a long drive though they do seem to agree with each other. I drove about 90 miles the other day and 3 were at 35, 1 at 33 when I started and all were at 38 when I finished. After my last service the dealer had them all over 40 psi for some reason. Don't know why they did that.

What @Dgr401 said. When the tires are cold they will have lower pressure, it's not a problem with the sensor. At highway speeds you will notice the pressure will increase slightly as well.

Tire pressure really is a weather thing. if I remember correctly you're supposed to fill the tires when at operating temp.

My mini constantly complains about the tire pressure purely because of it being cold out. I haven't had this problem with Remy though..

Regardless, tires heat up as they're driven. The warmer tires causes the air inside to heat up, and the hotter air gets, the more it expands. Conversely, when it's cold out, the air condenses and shrinks, resulting in lowered pressure..

As normal I'm probably over explaining...

Tire pressure is always set at cold temp, before you drive anywhere. So check them in the morning before you drive away. The expansion due to temp increasing is figured in.
